My attempt at making window toppers this weekend was successful! At least by my standards. While I'm sure Julie Andrews would be able to take these and make the most beautiful play clothes out of them, I feel lucky to be able to have gotten them up as basic curtains. The sewing on this craft project is by no means professional. I have to admit there are still pins in place helping hold them up. However, I'm very proud to have had this idea of what I wanted in my head and I had the ability to actually make it happen. Most impressively without any instructions or help - other than a couple verbal tips from my friend Carrie on making the project as simple as possible and my mother on how to fix the bobbin on the sewing machine. The final project turned out looking pretty good!
This was the last little decorating idea for Kathleen's room. The rest of the room will be filled with her baby "necessities" in the next couple of months. I'm saving the spot over the bookshelf for a fabulous newborn picture we will have taken by Memories by TLC soon after Kathleen's birth.
Also, you can see in the first picture that we recently received our car seat from my Aunt and the stroller was from my office. They both are very generous gifts and we are extremely excited to have two of the items we expect to use the most these first few years. Take a look at the links to check them out on the manufacture's websites if you're interested.
So now that Kathleen has window toppers, I'm wondering if I should make some for Mommy and Daddy's room too!

The Start of the Third Trimester!
Today is the day. The official start of the 3rd Trimester. I really can't believe it's here already. This is the start of week 27 and there are only 13 more weeks left to get to 40!
Calvin and I are doing well. We feel ready for Kathleen, well as ready as you can be not really knowing what to fully expect. And in the mean time we're doing the best we can to enjoy these last weeks of being just the 2 of us. We have an anniversary trip planned to Asheville the first week of March, 2 baby showers are planned, and Calvin will be turning 30 on March 18th! So we have a lot to celebrate along the way.
In an effort to live it up while I'm eating meat we've decided to go on a 3rd Trimester Burger Tour. There are so many places that apparently offer the "best" burger in Durham that I've never had. So we're thinking this will give us something other than baby to think about and enjoy as we try recommended burgers in Durham.
Tonight is the first night and Calvin asked to have the honors of making his best burger ever. This will be the bar to compare all others to. The comparisons will be based on the basic or most famous burger each restaurant offers with a side of fries, and maybe a little salad if they offer it to make us feel better. No splitting on the burger tour. And we'll take notes along the way to try to discover what we like best about each place.
Tonight's meal was very good. My husband is a great cook. However, I do not believe the burgers cooked exactly as he had planned so the meat ended up being a little strong/over seasoned. We have leftover patties, so maybe a few little changes will help when he makes them again on Friday when Brooke and Adah come to visit. Calvin's biggest complaint is that he misses his outdoor grill; it was the only thing he was really sad to see go when we sold the house. I just keep reminding him that there will be another...
Following is a list of the upcoming restaurants on the tour in no particular order:
Piper's
Only Burger
Char-Grill
Satisfaction
Five Guys
Wimpy's
King's Sandwich Shop
Vita
Bull City Burger and Brewery (Opening early March)
R&R Grill
Alternates based on Kathleen's arrival include:
Blue Note Grill
Dain's
Tribeca Tavern
(note: the alternates were chosen because I've had them before, but still love them and think they're awesome! Right now Blue Note Grill is tops.)
