A Sunday Afternoon Drive

One of her happiest moments so far. Kathleen beamed with excitement yesterday afternoon to jump on the seat,  pretend drive and of course play with the radio buttons. Squeals of laughter could not be contained. 

Back on the Grid

There's so much to catch up on. May, June and July have been whirlwinds in this season of life for us, but we are settling into the parsonage in Henderson and I'm happy to announce that I'm back on the grid! I'll try to catch up with posting main events that have occurred over the past few months. Kathleen has changed so much since her birthday party in May. For now I want to say how thankful I am for music that touches the heart just when you need it. It is a ministry that once it is produced keeps on giving and being used by the Holy Spirit to teach and encourage others. The link to the song below recently touched my heart and rejuvenated my soul with a message I needed to hear.

Enjoying the Sabbath

Each Sunday in June we took the opportunity to visit FVUMC and other churches that Calvin worked at while in Divinity School. We figured this was our last chance to see everyone on Sunday morning for awhile. After attending Fuquay's 9:30 service and having lunch with Annette, Ricky and Cassie Hall at Cooley's, we decided to head to Jordan Lake for a little rest and fun at the beach area. Kathleen loves the water and watching other kids play around her. Calvin and I love to watch the boats and dream about which one will be ours one day.

We'll be moving on to Henderson Tuesday and Wednesday of this coming week so I'm glad we were able to enjoy the breath of fresh air while we had the time!

First Birthday Pictures

To commemorate Kathleen's first birthday we asked our dear friend Katie Miller to take family pictures in Duke Gardens. It was a blast and I am so impressed with Katie's work! She did all this with her 3 adorable children joining us for time outside in the park on a beautiful Friday evening.

Fleet Feet Sports 4+ Mile Run

This past weekend I participated in the Chapel Hill 4 mile run with Calvin and Kathleen cheering me on from the sidelines. Despite a lack of training for the race, it was perfect. The start and finish were inside Kenan Stadium, the crowd was - as always - friendly, the adrenaline was pumping, the weather was cool and overcast, the bell tower played Hark the Sound as we ran by, and I did well by finishing in 47 minutes and 47 seconds. Spot on for a 12 minute mile including the famous "Laurel Hill Challenge". This is the 2nd time I've run this race in 3 years and I'm happy to keep it an annual tradition. It makes me proud to have completed my first post-baby athletic event. I'm so thankful for my husband's support and his presence at the race with Kathleen. This is the kind of Mom, wife, and late 20 something I want to be.
